Collimate within the focal distance of the telescope
The HyperStar laser collimator does not require long distances to achieve high-precision collimation. Using the flat mirror installed at the focal point (imaging sensor location), collimating lasers pass the optical train twice and amplify alignment errors to a higher level of precision. Furthermore, it also halves the collimation distance resulting in a near-field alignment process. The collimator is positioned within the focal length of the telescope directly in front of the telescope. Preparing for collimation, you will be standing between the telescope and collimator pointing both the telescope and collimator at each other. You will then adjust the HyperStar collimation knobs to bring the returning lasers on the same track. This is a very convenient collimation task for a one-person operation.
