Description
ZWOptical offers one special camera for autoguiding , in the appreciated ASI 174 series . The compact body and low weight of this camera is ideal for any off-axis guider or guidescope. The high quantum efficiency (sensitivity) of the Sony IMX174 sensor, its relatively large size and sensitivity in the infrared range allow you to always find the North Star. Naturally the camera is equipped with an ST-4 connector.
The extremely sensitive black and white camera is also perfect for astrophotography: it is fast enough to allow lunar and planetary imaging via Lucky Imaging (Stacking). The pixel size is small enough to be large enough for planets, yet large enough to make the camera interesting for deep-sky photography of dimly lit nebulae - a real all-rounder!
The CMOS sensor has such low noise that it allows excellent images even in small structures without active cooling. Thanks to the short working distance (backfocus), the camera can also be used under difficult focusing conditions, such as in Newtonian telescopes, which are not optimized for photography.
The advantages at a glance:
- Universal: autoguider and astronomical camera all in one!
- Large sensor with high sensitivity
- Very light and compact
- Extensive set of accessories
- Infrared sensitive
The chamber is equipped with a transparent filter and is therefore sensitive to infrared. In combination with an IR pass filter, this opens up interesting possibilities for planetary photography. On the other hand, an IR block filter is recommended when used with a telescope with lenses, since the objective lenses of the telescope are optimized for image reproduction for visible light and not for the infrared range.
