Innovative ideas applied to a time-tested design, the new generation iOptron® GEM45EC German equatorial mounts. A sharp looking CNC body is the first indicator that the GEM45 is a high quality stand in both form and function.
Using the experiences gained during the development of our CEM series, we have been able to remove unnecessary bulk giving the GEM45 an incredible payload to assembly weight ratio of 2.5. This compact 17.5-pound mount can accurately go to an object and track with up to 45 pounds of equipment on board. With its integrated electronic polar oscilloscope (iPolar TM), polar alignment is child's play, even when North Star is obscured. Large levers on the quick-lock drive engagement system make it easy to engage drive gears even when wearing gloves. There's little chance of cables getting tangled with the GEM45's internal advanced cable management system. A dual 6" saddle accommodates Losmandy and Vixen style dovetail plates. The GEM45EC mounts use reliable stepper motor drive systems with our energy efficient technology. Looking for ultra precise tracking, the GEM45EC with its high resolution encoding it offers rms PE<0.25 arcsec.Our new 1.75" LiteRoc tripod offers solid stability in a lighter and more compact package. A 212,000+ object library with star identification, GPS, Wi-Fi (requires optional iStarFi adapter) are some of the desirable features standard on a GEM45 mount.
