Description
ASI482MC - New Sony STARVIS sensor with even more performance!
The new ZWO ASI482MC camera is the first camera in the world to use the Sony IMX482 color sensor
This new Sony sensor is the first sensor for astronomical cameras to use the 1/2" format and to have an output of pixels necessary to support the 4K format at 83 fps.
Exceptional low-light performance
This is achieved by using a large optical system and expanding the area per pixel to 5.8 microns; which makes the IMX482 sensor ideal for astronomical applications where high performance is required even at low illumination.
SONY 2.1MP sensor with 12.18mm diagonal
The SONY IMX482 sensor has a diagonal of 12.18mm and 5.8x5.8 micron pixels, the 1/2" format is very high-performance and suitable for planetary and solar shots, but not only that, it can also be used to monitor weather conditions or for some photographs in lucky imaging deepsky.
Astrophotographic performances - HGC MODE
the new ASI482MC has a built-in HCG mode that can effectively reduce read noise at high gain and maintain the same wide dynamic range you would expect at low gain.
When the gain is 80, HCG mode is automatically activated. This results in a readout noise of just 1.5e, while the dynamic range can still reach almost 12 stops.
