ZWO AM3 HARMONIC DRIVE ASSEMBLY

The traditional equatorial mount requires heavy counterweights. It can be very difficult to balance in the RA and DEC directions, and also inconvenient for transit and storage, which brings amateur astrophotographers a lot of pain when they're out imaging.

Some of the strain wave gear transmission supports are relatively simple in function, insufficient in carrying capacity, and also not very stable in use.

To solve the above problems, ZWO has developed the ASI Mount series. No need for a counterweight. With a proper weight of 3.9 kg, the AM3 has a large load capacity of 8 kg to 13 kg. While portability is very important, stability is also essential in use. Instead of blindly pursuing the lightness of the stand body, ZWO is more along the lines of stability for an entire use. The internal structure of the body is optimized with the strain wave reducer and synchronous belt, giving you more accurate control and an astonishing 300:1 reduction ratio. It is also multifunctional that it can be used as both an equatorial mount and an alt-azimuth mount. . You can control the mount via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth or a hand controller.

Payload 8kg-13kg

The load capacity of AM3 without counterweight is 8kg and 13kg with the counterweight.

* The counterweight must be fixed on a counterweight rod of no more than 20 cm in length.

According to engineering calculations, we can calculate the maximum load capacity of the AM3 stand:

8kg without counterweight

13kg with counterweight.

Supported counterweight: ≤5kg

The counterweight must be fixed on a counterweight bar no longer than 25cm in length.
