Observing the Sun in H-Alpha:
the LS100MT/B3400 telescope is a complete instrument for observing the Sun in H-Alpha light, with 100 mm free aperture (no central obstruction) and 714 mm focal length . The H-Alpha wavelength offers the most impressive way to observe the Sun, showing the prominences on the corona, the filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. The internal Etalon filter reaches a width at half height < 0.7 Angström , thanks to the innovative air pressure regulation system Pressure Tuner . Fine-tuning occurs via a slight change in air pressure in a pressure chamber inside the telescope. This changes the refractive index of the air, making it easier to set the H-Alpha line exactly. The Pressure Tuner guarantees a uniform image, without central obstructions, and an Etalon always protected and preserved from wear. A set of collimating lenses installed in the telescope ensures the best performance.
Focusing occurs via the excellent 2 inch Feather-Touch focuser from Starlight-Instruments with 1:10 reduction .

The blocking filter is the B3400 . The B3400 is suitable for solar photography with very large sensor cameras and can also be used for visual solar observation.
The B3400 blocking filter is integrated into the 2-inch Feather-Touch focuser. You can use common 2-inch mirror diagonals or other 2-inch accessories.

Observe the night sky:
Thanks to its modular design, the Etalon H-Alfa system can be removed from the telescope in a few simple steps. Thanks to the conversion kit available separately (item number 0551430) the 3-lens apochromatic refractor can also be used as a normal telescope with 100 mm aperture and 714 mm focal length to observe and photograph the night sky . The FPL-53 triplet lens delivers extraordinarily pure color images. The high-quality R&P focuser from the 0551430 conversion kit can be used with standard 2-inch mirror diagonals.
Note: the conversion kit 0551430, available separately, is essential for using the telescope even at night.

with additional accessories the LS100MT telescope offers even more possibilities!
- Double Stack
The LS100MT telescope can be equipped with the optional additional Double Stack DSII/SFPT module (item number 0551395). The DSII system is an internal Double Stack module with Pressure Tuner, which allows to reach a width at half height < 0.5 Angström. This makes even more details on the Sun's surface visible.
- Observe the Sun in white light
Once you have removed the H-Alpha unit and applied the 0551430 conversion kit, you can install a solar filter in front of the lens or a Herschel prism on the focuser to observe sunspots in white light.
- Observe the Sun in the Ca-K wavelength
Of course, Lunt Solar Systems' Ca-K filter modules can also be used on the LS100MT telescope to observe and photograph supergranulation and other effects of the Sun visible in this wavelength.
