Easy conversion between the two application types in just a few steps. 2-lens APO ED telescope with FPL-53 glass, 80 mm aperture and 560 mm focal length: excellent image quality for solar observation in H-Alpha and for night astronomical observation.
With an innovative air pressure regulation system, a good 2 inch (50.8 mm) R&P focuser and B1200 blocking filter.

Solar observation in H-Alpha:
The LS80MT/B1200 telescope is a complete instrument for observing the Sun in H-Alpha light, with 80 mm free aperture (no central obstruction) and 560 mm focal length . The H-Alpha wavelength offers the most impressive way to observe the Sun, showing the prominences on the corona, the filaments and flares on the surface, and much more. An internal Etalon filter achieves a width at mid-height of <0.7 Angström with the innovative air pressure regulation system Pressure Tuner . The adjustment occurs via a slight change in air pressure in a pressure chamber inside the telescope. This changes the refractive index of the air, making it easier to set the H-Alpha line exactly. The Pressure Tuner guarantees a uniform image, without central obstructions, and an Etalon always protected and protected from wear. A set of collimating lenses installed in the telescope also ensures the best performance.
Focusing occurs via a stable 2-inch R&P focuser with 1:10 reduction .
The blocking filter is the B1200 , ideal for both visual observation of the Sun and for solar photography with cameras equipped with a small sensor. For cameras with large sensors, we recommend an LS80MT with a B1800 blocking filter.
The mirror diagonal, in which the blocking filter is installed, has both a 1.25-inch eyepiece connection and a T2 camera connector as standard.

Night sky observation:
the H-Alfa Etalon system can be removed from the telescope in just a few steps thanks to the modular structure of the telescope. With the separately available conversion kit (item number 0551330), the 2-lens ED refractor can be used as a normal telescope with 80 mm aperture and 560 mm focal length for observing and photographing the night sky . The FPL-53 doublet lens offers a pure color image. The high-quality R&P focuser from the 0551330 conversion kit can be used with standard 2-inch mirror diagonals.
Note: the optional conversion kit 0551330 is essential to use the telescope even at night.

with additional accessories the LS80MT telescope offers even more possibilities!
- Double stack
The LS80MT telescope can be equipped with the optional additional DSII/SFPT double-stack module (item number 0551395). The DSII system is an internal double-stack module with Pressure Tuner, which allows a width at half height of <0.5 Angström. This makes even more details on the Sun's surface visible.
- Observation of the Sun in white light
Once you have removed the H-Alpha unit and applied the 0551330 conversion kit, you can install a solar filter in front of the lens or a Herschel prism on the focuser to observe sunspots in white light.
- Observation of the Sun in the Ca-K wavelength
Of course, Lunt Solar Systems' Ca-K filter modules can also be used on the LS80MT telescope to observe and photograph supergranulation and other effects of the Sun visible in this wavelength.
