Description

Discover Scientific ED Apo 127 mm - FCD-100, aluminum tube, Hexafoc

Apochromats are the ultimate choice in small to medium sized telescopes: the combination of compactness, portability, very high image contrast and sharpness along with the ability to take excellent astrophotos can't be beat. Advances in glassmaking in recent years have made true apochromats available to more astronomy enthusiasts than ever before.

The Explore Scientific FCD-100 Carbon Hex represents another major improvement in this area : the overall correction (color and spherical) is setting standards in this price class. The optical design shows a polystrehl value of 0.97, indicating an absolutely top-of-the-range level of correction.

This excellent apochromat is a very versatile telescope: the fast f-ratio makes short exposure times possible. The high contrast and sharpness of the image provides breathtaking views of large objects such as the North American Nebula or the Andromeda galaxy, as well as taking sharp planetary images. The telescope is lightweight and compact: the dew shield slides along the tube, and the carbon fiber construction saves weight compared to a standard metal tube. Revolutionary glass and precision manufacturing have created a telescope that offers the joy of observing at the highest level. This not only qualifies this telescope as the ideal travel telescope, but it is also the perfect choice for quick observing and astrophotography.

The excellent focuser from 2.5" with 10:1 reduction is perfect for this purpose: the large internal diameter of 65 mm prevents vignetting by the focuser when the telescope is used for astrophotography with large sensors.
