Description

The next level of observation: the new Omegon RC telescopes for astrophotographers
Are you looking for a good telescope for astrophotography? With Omegon Ritchey-Chretien telescopes you will get astronomical photographs of superior quality. These instruments provide a large coma-free field of view, ideal for pinpoint stars right out to the edges. Find out why an RC telescope is suitable for astrophotographers and why it is also used by professionals.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Hyperbolic mirror: extremely sharp image reproduction, large field of view without corrections
  • Quartz mirror: for a stable focus, without the need for subsequent adjustments
  • High reflectivity: 92-94% for bright, contrast-rich observing and astrophotography
  • Fast cooling times, thanks to the open structure
  • Electric fan to speed up cooling (at 10")

Hyperbolic mirror for better image reproduction
RC telescopes have a primary mirror and a secondary mirror, both of which are hyperbolic. No spherical mirror as in Schmidt-Cassegrain systems.

All this for your benefit : better and sharper astrophotography with a large field of view! With APS-C sensors ultra-sharp images even without correction. Until a few years ago this technique was almost inaccessible. The new Omegon RC telescopes are now within the reach of all amateur astronomers.

Photographing without corrector
Use your optics with an astro camera or DSLR. You will need no further corrections to have pinpoint and coma-free stars right to the edges. The 6" RCs can be combined with APS-C format sensors, i.e. for example with a Canon EOS or similar. The 8" and 10" models even accept full-frame 24x36 mm sensors, i.e. all professional DLSR cameras and numerous astronomical cameras, without any correction. And if one day you want to photograph with a medium format, just ask us which is the best solution.

Quartz main mirror
Experienced astrophotographers have probably already experienced focus drift with long exposure times. An irritating thing! The advantage of this model is the quartz mirror, which registers almost no thermal deformation and guarantees fantastic images, keeping the focus stable throughout the night.

Steel tube for stable focus and high contrast
In addition to the quality of the mirror, the steel tube also plays an important role in producing great astronomical photos. Together with a steel tube this Omegon RC is characterized by a 50% reduced focus slip. Precisely placed stray light shields also ensure high contrast.

Generous free aperture: 3" focuser
The rear of the instrument is particularly important: a 3" Crayford linear focuser with ball bearings is large enough to illuminate even large format fields of view without vignetting. The combination of a Crayford and a rail allows you to take advantage of the ease of this type of focuser and the stability given by a rack and pinion system.

  • Always correct orientation: fully rotatable focuser
  • Reduction to 2" and 1.25" with integrated washer attachment
  • Sensitive and precise focus: gear down 1:10 for minimal adjustments
  • Graduated scale: to quickly find the point of focus
  • Great stability: the camera is placed exactly on the optical axis and therefore the image remains sharp

Better image reproduction than with an SC telescope
First, an RC telescope is based on a completely different concept than a classic SC or Maksutov telescope. Without a correction plate, this instrument is an open system, which adjusts faster to the outside temperature than an SC telescope. Thanks to the lack of a front plate, the telescope also allows brighter images without the danger of reflections. Ritchey-Chretien systems are high-correction two-mirror telescopes. The focus of the field and the edges is impressive. No wonder then that virtually all large telescopes use these optics to conduct research at professional observatories.

Finally accessible
Building a hyperbolic mirror is a science and an art. Until a few years ago, RC telescopes were therefore among the most expensive telescopes in the world, and only international institutes used them for research. However now this technology is also available to experienced astronomer amateurs.
