Description
The next level of observing: the new Omegon RC telescopes for astrophotographers
Are you looking for a good telescope for astrophotography? With Omegon Ritchey-Chretien telescopes you will have superior quality astronomical photographs. These instruments provide a large, coma-free field of view, ideal for point stars right up to the edge. Find out why an RC telescope is convenient for astrophotographers and why it is also used by professionals.
The advantages at a glance:
- Hyperbolic mirror: extremely sharp image reproduction, large field of view without corrections
- Quartz mirror: for stable focus, without the need for subsequent adjustments
- High reflectivity: 92-94% for bright, contrast-rich observations and astrophotography
- Fast cooling times, thanks to the open structure
- Electric fan to speed up cooling (10")
Hyperbolic mirror for better image reproduction
RC telescopes are equipped with a primary and a secondary mirror, both hyperbolic. No spherical mirrors like in Schmidt-Cassegrain systems.
All this to your advantage : better and sharper astrophotography with a large field of view! With APS-C sensors ultra-sharp images even without correction. Until a few years ago this technique was almost inaccessible. The new Omegon RC telescopes are now within the reach of all amateur astronomers.
Photographing without concealer
Use your optics with an astronomical camera or DSLR. You won't need any further corrections to have point-like, coma-free stars all the way to the edges. The 6" RCs can be combined with sensors in the APS-C format, so for example with a Canon EOS or similar. The 8" and 10" models even accept full-frame 24x36 mm sensors, i.e. all professional DLSR cameras and numerous astronomical cameras, without any correction. And if one day you want to photograph with a medium format, just ask us what the best solution is.
Steel tube for stable focus and high contrast
In addition to the quality of the mirror, the steel tube also plays an important role in producing great astronomical photos. Together with a steel tube this Omegon RC is characterized by a focus shift reduced by 50%. Precisely placed anti-stray light shields also ensure high contrast.
Better image reproduction than a SC telescope
First of all, an RC telescope is based on a completely different concept than a classic SC or Maksutov telescope. Without a correction plate, this instrument is an open system, which adapts faster to the outside temperature than an SC telescope. Thanks to the lack of a front plate, the telescope also allows brighter images without the risk of reflections. Ritchey-Chretien systems are highly corrected two-mirror telescopes. The focus of the field and the edges is impressive. No wonder then that virtually all large telescopes use these optics to conduct research in professional observatories.
Finally accessible
The construction of a hyperbolic mirror is a science and an art. Until a few years ago, RC telescopes were therefore among the most expensive telescopes in the world, and only international institutes used them for research. However, this technology is now also available to experienced amateur astronomers.
