Description
ARTEMIS-C Pro Coolled IMX294 camera
The DSO line of cooled cameras is the most advanced product line in Player One history . We start the project from 2021, through many modifications and reconstructions we have created this final version. Bringing our latest technology and design to everyone, we are very proud to present this line of cameras.
The power supply is not included in the camera package, high quality 12V 5A power supply link : https://player-one-astronomy.com/product/12v-5a-power-supply-dc5-5-x-2- 1mm/

Product Description
New polygon design
cutting edge like a normal hexagon is very Player One, DSO cooled cameras we want to make it more beautiful and practical. After many attempts, we fix the final style, which uses a scientific and technological octagon to build the main line of the body, and 4 sides are curved surface, complemented by round bevels to achieve both rigidity and flexibility. The front piece is round to avoid diffraction on RASA. The positive red, which is like a summer fire, is paired with the restrained and steady black, and the super-fine frosting process all over the surface makes the camera look luxurious and cool, and maintains the Player One style.
The Artemis-C Pro (IMX294) cooled camera is developed by Player One Astronomy, it is designed for advanced DSO imaging. adopts the 4/3" format Sony IMX294 color sensor. The pixel size of 4.63 um hosts a depth of 65.8 K with a total of 11.7MP (the resolution is 4144 * 2824) and the diagonal is 23.2mm.
Rear 4-point adjustment sensor tilt plate
When taking deepsky objects, using the sensor's tilt plate you can achieve a much smaller field curvature of the telescope. We adopt rear adjustment and 4-point tilt plate, it has many advantages in using.
4 Adjusting stitches is easier to know which angle you need to adjust. Built-in high-density sponge shade pad can block light from side slits without side leakage.
To understand the 4-point adjustment method, we have made an example for users:
Deep cooling
Player One cooled camera series uses 2-stage TEC cooling unit , after improving the structure design to reject heat in the camera chamber, Delta-T camera can reach over 40°C.
512MB DDR3 cache
As an improvement, the DDR3 cache in cooled cameras is increased to 512 MB. Helps stabilize and protect data transmission, effectively avoid frame dropping, and greatly reduce reading noise.
With DDR3 cache, the camera no longer has high processing demands, it will still have excellent performance even if it is connected to a USB 2.0 port.
STARVIS technology
Artemis-C Pro (IMX294) cooled camera based on Sony STARVIS technology , is the back-illuminated pixel technology used in CMOS image sensors.
4/3" format
Artemis-C Pro cooled camera has format 4/3" (19.2mm*13mm), this size is very popular for DSO imaging.
14-bit ADC
The IMX294 sensor has a 14-bit on-chip ADC. The 14 bits (16384 levels) provide greater sample resolution than 12 bits (4096 levels).
Type-C data port and power port
The back of the cooled camera has 2 Type-C data ports and 12V DC 5.5×2.1mm power port.
The main data port supports USB3.0 protocol, the camera can run 33fps in RAW8 mode. The Type-C port is easier to connect when assembling imaging equipment at night.
When recording images, because the actual writing speed will be affected by the writing speed of the hard disk itself, when the writing speed of the hard disk is slow, recording may not reach the theoretical speed. It is recommended to use a high-quality solid-state drive to record data and give full playback to the camera's performance.
The camera has a 12V DC5.5*2.1mm port to provide enough power to the TEC cooling system. If you don't need to turn on the cooling, just connect the main Type-C port, the camera will work as an uncooled camera.
Cooling system and anti-dew heater
In the ASCOM window, we provide 3 adjustable parameters: target temperature, fan speed and anti-dew power.
Delta-T standard: 40°C (±2°C), ambient temperature 30°C, fan speed 100%, dew heater 0%.
Recommend Delta-T settings: 35°C below ambient, fan speed 70%, dew heater 10%, power consumption 40-60%.
The rotation speed of the cooling fan is also adjustable, the default value is 70% speed.
Dew problem is the biggest enemy in astro imaging, the camera built-in anti-dew heater in front of the camera. The heat output is adjustable.
Overvoltage and overcurrent protection mechanism
Player One cameras manufactured by us ensure the safety of the camera and other equipment through over-voltage and over-current protection mechanisms.
Performance
At gain = 0, the camera has a dynamic range of 13 stops and a maximum capability of 65.8Ke and a full well, readout noise is 7.8Ke.
HCG open at gain = 120, the camera has 12.97 stops dynamic range and 14.5K full fine, readout noise drop to only 1.8e.
Frame rate
The Artemis-C Pro cooled camera can run 33FPS in RAW8 mode, which is much faster than existing models on the market.
Reading noise
Regarding read noise, we solemnly promise that all values are obtained from real tests. And for users, you can use Sharpcap 4 for testing. SC4 has a feature called Sensor Analysis, it provides a very simple way to test read noise.
A tutorial is available on the site: https://player-one-astronomy.com/service/manuals/
If you are interested in reading noise testing, you can try it yourself, which is very simple.
