Description

Characteristics:

The DSO line of cooled cameras is the most advanced product line in Player One history. We start the project from 2021, through many modifications and reconstructions we have created this final version. Bringing our latest technology and design to everyone, we are very proud to present this line of cameras.

The power supply is not included in the camera package, high quality 12V 5A power connection: https://player-one-astronomy.com/product/12v-5a-power-supply-dc5-5-x-2-1mm/

Poseidon-M KIT configuration tutorial:

Product Description

New cutting-edge design

Polygon like a normal hexagon is very Player One, DSO cooled cameras we want to make it more beautiful and practical. After many attempts, we establish the final style, which uses a scientific and technological octagon to build the main line of the body and 4 sides are curved surface , complemented by round bevels to achieve both rigidity and flexibility. The front piece is round to avoid diffraction on RASA. The positive red, which is like a summer fire, is paired with the restrained and steady black, and the super-fine frosting process all over the surface makes the camera look luxurious and cool, and maintains the Player One style.

Poseidon-M Pro (IMX571) cooled camera is developed by Player One Astronomy, it is designed for advanced DSO imaging. adopt the monochrome sensor in format APS-C Sony IMX571 . There pixel size of 3.76 um accommodates a depth of 71.7 Ke with a total of 26 MP (resolution is 6252*4176 ) and the diagonal And of 28.3 mm.

Rear 4-point adjustment sensor tilt plate

When taking deepsky objects, using the sensor's tilt plate you can achieve a much smaller field curvature of the telescope. We adopt rear adjustment and 4-point tilt plate, it has many advantages in using.

4-point adjustment is easier, so you can know which angle you need to adjust. Built-in high-density sponge shade pad can block light from side slits without side leakage.

To understand the 4-point adjustment method, we have made an example for users:

Deep cooling

Player One cooled camera series uses 2-stage TEC cooling unit, after improving the structure design to reject heat in the camera chamber, the camera Delta-T can reach further 40°C .

512MB DDR3 cache

As an improvement, the DDR3 cache in cooled cameras is increased to 512 MB. Helps stabilize and protect data transmission, effectively avoid frame dropping, and greatly reduce reading noise.

With DDR3 cache, the camera no longer has high processing demands, it will still have excellent performance even if it is connected to a USB 2.0 port.

STARVIS technology

Poseidon-M Pro (IMX571) cooled camera based on Sony STARVIS technology, is the back-illuminated pixel technology used in CMOS image sensors.

APS-C format

Poseidon-M Pro cooled camera has APS-C format (23.5mm*15.7mm), this size is large enough for DSO imaging.

16-bit native ADC

The IMX571 sensor features a 16-bit native on-chip ADC. Native 16-bit (65536 levels) ADC provides higher sample resolution than 12-bit (4096 levels ) or 14 bits (16384 levels). When we do nonlinear transformation, 16 bit data can bear very strong transformation and could also bring much better transition of light and dark, also 16 bit can make the color more vivid.

Non-Amp-Glow

The Poseidon-M Pro Cooled Camera is also a Non-Amp-Glow camera!

300s, gain = 0, offset = 10, -20 degrees, Poseidon-M Pro cooled camera dark frame: DOWNLOAD

Dark frame preview: Exposure = 300s, gain = 0, offset = 10, temp = -20 °C STF automatic stretching in Pixinsight 1.86

Non-Amp-Glow can give us a very clean background, much easier to get high quality images.

Type-C data port and power port

The back of the cooled camera has 2 Type-C data ports and 12V DC 5.5×2.1mm power port.

The main data port supports USB3.0 protocol, the camera can run 15fps in RAW8 mode. The Type-C port is easier to connect when assembling imaging equipment at night.

When recording images, because the actual writing speed will be affected by the writing speed of the hard disk itself, when the writing speed of the hard disk is slow, recording may not reach the theoretical speed. It is recommended to use a high-quality solid-state drive to record data and give full playback to the camera's performance.

The camera has a 12V DC5.5*2.1mm port to provide enough power to the TEC cooling system. If you don't need to turn on the cooling, just connect the main Type-C port, the camera will work as an uncooled camera.

Standard cable usage

Cooling system and anti-dew heater

In the ASCOM window, we provide 3 adjustable parameters: target temperature, fan speed and anti-dew power.

Standard Delta-T : 40 °C (±2 °C), temperature ambient 30°C, fan speed 100%, dew heater 10%.

Recommend Delta-T settings : 35 °C below ambient, fan speed 70%, dew heater 10%, power consumption 40-60%.

The rotation speed of the cooling fan is also adjustable, the default value is 70% of speed.

Dew problem is the biggest enemy in astro imaging, the camera built-in anti-dew heater in front of the camera. The heat output is adjustable.

Overvoltage and overcurrent protection mechanism

Player One cameras manufactured by us ensure the safety of the camera and other equipment through over-voltage and over-current protection mechanisms.

Performance

Dual sampling mode

The Poseidon series has a dual sampling mode. Normal mode And low noise mode , have several advantages in imaging.

1. Normal mode has faster FPS, it is more suitable for planetary imaging .

2. The mode Low Noise (LRN) It has lower readout noise and higher dynamic range. it is more suitable for DSO imaging .

At gain = 0, the camera has a dynamic range of 14.26 stops and a capacitance of 71.7K and at full well, the readout noise is 3.96e.

HCG open at gain = 125, the camera has 13.58 stops dynamic range and 16.6K full fine, readout noise drop to only 1.36e.

Low noise mode

Normal Mode

Frame rate

The Poseidon-M Pro cooled camera can run 15FPS in RAW8 mode, which is much faster than existing models on the market.

Full house better

Poseidon-M Pro cooled camera has 71.7Ke full, it is over 1.4 times than IMX571 Basic (50ke).

Reading noise

Regarding read noise, we solemnly promise that all values are obtained from real tests. And for users, you can use Sharpcap 4 for testing. SC4 has a function called Sensor Analysis , provides a very simple way to test read noise.

We have written a tutorial on our site: https://player-one-astronomy.com/service/manuals/

If you are interested in reading noise testing, you can try it yourself, which is very simple.
